Meet Alex Ruby Trading Co

Alex Ruby Trading Co is led by Allie and Paul, brought together by a shared love of jewellery, precious metals, vintage pieces and the thrill of discovering something unexpected.

Behind us is a wider collective with an unusually broad range of expertise. This includes advanced hobbyists with postgraduate scientific knowledge, including PhD-level expertise in materials science, as well as a highly experienced second-generation goldsmith and jeweller trained at the Sir John Cass School, whose bench skills later resulted in an offer of employment from Tiffany & Co.

That combination of practical jewellery experience, traditional craftsmanship and scientific knowledge gives us a valuable pool of expertise to draw upon when researching and understanding the pieces that pass through our hands.

We don’t pretend to know everything. Jewellery can be complicated, and sometimes the most accurate answer is simply that further testing is needed.

Our approach is therefore based on curiosity, research and transparency — telling you what we know, what we have tested and, equally importantly, what we haven’t.
